Where different generations of burrow infill can be recognized, their fossil content can also be interpreted at a finer temporal scale. Burns (1996) studied a fossil prairie dog town, where the age of individual tunnels ranged from 33650 to 22000 years. The infill varied from subaqueous to aeolian in origin.
