The gait of a dinosaur is either walking, trotting, or running.  Gait is reflected in the distance between each successive track in a trackway.  A long stride indicates running and a shorter stride indicates walking.  The formula for measuring gait is,

where h is the height at the hip, and SL is stride length (distance from one track to the next).

The result will fall into one of three categories:
         walking:  gait < 2.0
         trotting  :  gait 2.0 to 2.9
         running :  gait > 2.9

    In general, bipeds preferred walking, though trotting and running are observed.  Quadrupeds favored walking; no evidence of trotting or running has been found.
