Transport and accumulation of articulated body segments by predators also can generate skeletal assemblages with associated parts. For example, in ungulates, skeletal parts such as teeth, jaws and foot elements are more likely to survive initial carnivore or scavenger destruction because they are relatively dense and low in nutrient value.
