Another interesting fact can be deduced from the cat's physical attributes. As mentioned before, the cat was fairly short, stocky, and had a short tail. These facts suggest that the sabre-tooth cat was not a runner because a long tail provides balance and long legs are associated with speed and endurance. It is more plausible that a creature of this size and weight did not chase down its prey.
