Three Spined Stickleback
Pink Lake is the home to a small, unique fish, the Three Spined Stickleback. This species once lived in the Champlain Sea. The transition from salt water to fresh water in Pink Lake took 3000 years, which is enough time for the stickleback to adapt rather than die off. There are both salt and freshwater sticklebacks, but this one resembles more closely to the salt water species. This fish is very small, approximately 5 cm in size.
