OTTAWA GROUP
The Ottawa Group consists of five Formations which are Lindsay, Verulam, Bobcaygeon, Gull River and the Shadow Lake Formations. While the Shadow Lake Formation contains silty limestone, dolomite, quartz sandstone and shale, it is relatively fossil free. The Gull River Formation has the same rock types, but contians some "birdseye" oolitic interclasts and stromatolitic limestone and fossil corals. This trend continues on up through the Bob Caygeon Formation where more shale seems to be present along with burrows and stylolites. The Verulam and Lindsay Formations are mostly shaley limestones with a range of fossils in the Verulam and only burrows and feeding trails in the Lindsay Formation.
