Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons both lived through several eras of tools:

• The Mousterian industry- 200,000-40,000YA, particular to Neanderthals in Europe but popular with Cro-Magnons in Africa.

• The Aurignacian period- 40,000-28,000YA, is associated with Neanderthals as well as Cro-Magnon in Europe and certain parts of Africa.

• The Châtelperronian period- 40,000-32,000YA, is particularly associated with Neanderthals.
