The fore-reef facies is characterized by relatively steeply dipping, massively bedded, transported sediments; the reef facies is distinguished by the prolific occurrence of in situ coral growth and the back-reef facies is typified by muddy calcarenites and scattered corals. The fauna is similar in all respects to modern Barbados reefs, even in the absence of the codiacean alga Halimeda but it does differ in the abundance of Acropora palmata.
