Extent of the Younger Dryas Cold Episode

The Younger Dryas event was first identified and studied in Northern Europe. It is now underdstood that this cooling event was experienced throughout the entire North Atlantic Region, the West Coast of Canada, and evidence of this event has also been found in the Southern Hemisphere. It thus appears to be a global or hemispheric-scale episode rather than a regional one.
