Amber can hold not only organic inclusions, but inorganic ones that can tell us alot about the Cenozoic and Mesozoic, (and a little of the Paleozoic).

This is a piece of Baltic Amber magnified x25, showing gas bubbles trapped within water inclusions within the amber, (indicated by the red arrow). When the amber is tilted, the mobile gas bubble moves as a result.
