Boulder Coral. Growth form mound-like or flattened.
Stephanocoenia michelinii:
Small-Eyed Star Coral. Brown in colour. Massive (sometimes
encrusting) colonies with cups polygonal or oval; 2-3 mm in diameter. Cups
have an evident central "eye" formed by a skeletal columella
surrounded by 24 radial septa. the eye can be discerned in the field. More
common inshore than on the outer reef.
