THE ODONATA
The order Odonata (known as the "toothed ones") includes some of the most ancient and astounding insects that have ever roamed the Earth. They include some of the largest flying invertebrates ever to have lived. The Odonata is more commonly associated with dragonflies and damselflies. Imagine if you will a dragonfly, not just any dragonfly but one with a wingspan of up to 2m in length.
To make things easier I will be referring to Odonates as dragonflies, even though they are really a suborder. In this web page I will be discussing the physiology of the modern dragonfly, the history and fossil records and how they are/were viewed in culture and along with religion in some regions.
